The currently used fish species of Maximilian, the lake got his second name - "Lampretensee". The economic exploitation, however, was only limited to a few decades. With its two beach and bathing areas contribute to the beauty of the Seefeld plateau the lake became therefore one of the most popular lakes in the area. Probably this is an a-periodic (not regular) "phenomenon" by an interplay of the water in the underground karst systems or snow melt and spring rainfall. However, the exact causes for the occurrence or the absence of the lakes are still a mystery, which also couldn't be resolved by a variety of tests.
