Lake "Wildsee" - Eponym of Seefeld

For the 1022 first documented settlement "Sevelt" (= field at the lake), was the already existing "Wildsee" (=wild lake)  probably inspiring for the name.

The currently used fish species of Maximilian, the lake got his second name - "Lampretensee". The economic exploitation, however, was only limited to a few decades. With its two beach and bathing areas contribute to the beauty of the Seefeld plateau the lake became therefore one of the most popular lakes in the area. In 1926, the southern shore of the lake (with the "Reither Moor") became because of its specificity to the botanical a nature reserved area.

At an altitude of 1292 m there is the small, but up to 11 m deep lake, surrounded by a nature reserve. Even if the banks are used as a breeding ground for various waterfowl is swimming allowed here. The Möserer lake is considered as one of the warmest lakes in Tyrol.

Natural Phenomena "Wildmoossee & Lottensee"

On the Wildmoos Plateau in 1320 m altitude, near the Möserer lake, very interesting natural phenomena can be observed. Surrounded by green meadows, larch and birch forests are formed out of nothing the Wildmoos-lake and Lotten-lake.

Probably this is an a-periodic (not regular) "phenomenon" by an interplay of the water in the underground karst systems or snow melt and spring rainfall. However, the exact causes for the occurrence or the absence of the lakes are still a mystery, which also couldn't be resolved by a variety of tests.

Lake "Kaltwassersee" (Rosshütte)

In 2002, the "Kaltwassersee" (=cold-water-lake)  was artificially created for the snowmaking to ski area "Rosshütte".

70,000 m³ of water are used to supply the 180 snow cannons. In summer it offers a beautiful hike at a dizzy height.
